The Aesthetically Pleasing Stroll That is Copenhagen

Danish design is beautiful. The sky is blue. This charm is built into the city that is Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen. Everything is aesthetically pleasing and seems effortlessly integrated. It’s a city held together by beautiful design, delicious food and well dressed young parents biking their kids around town. The transit system is very smooth and I spent most of my time in the city wandering by foot thinking I’m on the set of a Wes Anderson movie. Take for example, the Superkilen in Nørrebro district in the photos above. It’s a public park designed to celebrate diversity that is filled with objects and designs from over 60 local nationalities. Tell me this isn’t beautiful.

There are many reports that the Danish are the happiest people in the world and why wouldn’t you be in a city like this?? The visual story below is a small glimpse into Copenhagen. I’m sure I only touched the surface of the beautiful things and cities to be visited in Denmark. I’ll get to writing another post about all the delicious foods in Copenhagen as soon as I stop drooling over my keyboard reminiscing about everything.

Trondur Patursson – Cosmic Space 2003. Outdoor glass and mirror installation by the Inderhavns Broen (Inner Harbor Bridge) – nicknamed The Kissing Bridge. It doesn’t look much from the outside but a must see.

Wes Anderson-esque everywhere.

Beautiful folded cranes installation in the Meatpacking District. There are plenty of great restaurants in this area and definitely worth checking out.

Ai Wei Wei – Soleil Levant. Installed on the facade of Kunsthal Charlottenborg.The art work consists of a barricade of the windows with more than 3500 life jackets collected from the refugees on the Greek island of Lesbos. Art literally displayed in/on buildings in this beautiful city.

Fleisch – butcher shop & restaurant. Meatpacking District. DELICIOUS ribeye & bacon fat cocktail. The Meatpacking District is where all the cool kids hang out.

Wandered into a public architectural installation in Kongens Have (The King’s Garden) – like I said, athletically pleasing things everywhere.

Ofelia Plads – open pier area overlooking the canal where festivals are set up but also great to sit with some cheese & wine to have a picnic. Skuespilhuset (Royal Danish Playhouse) is on the right in the photo. All in the Nyvahn district.

Det Kongelige Bibliotek (The Royal Library). This interior is super visually well designed. The Royal Library’s garden behind is worth wandering around as well.

Free tomato posters in Torvehallerne – market with stalls of local crafts, produce and gourmet foods. I loved wandering the stalls and sampling/buying all the delicious items.

Looking down the canal in Nyhavn. Ai Weiwei’s installation Soleil Levant featured on the right. This area is beautiful and one of the main tourist areas of Copenhagen.

Copenhagen Pride – Denmark’s largest annual Human Rights festival. All ages and people are welcome. <3

Yoko One – Wish Tree Garden in the Copenhagen Contemporary. Copenhagen Street Food is right next door offering a high number of food stalls to choose from including local craft beer.

Prolog Coffee Bar in the Meatpacking District. Beautiful back area and a delicious place to grab a latte.

Superkilen – a urban open space in Nørrebro located in the Quarter of Mimersgade. The park is divided into three main areas: The Red Square, The Black Market and The Green Park.

Kongens Have (The King’s Garden). A beautiful public park to just wander around in. Or grab some wine and snacks and have a picnic.

Everything so well aesthetically designed that a fallen bicycle is beautiful.

You can purchase tickets to hop on cruises on the canal in Nyhavn. Plenty of things to see and restaurants in this area.

Copenhagen Central Station. The super trendy Vesterbro neighborhood is right in this area and also the Tivoli Gardens. Plenty of food options in this area.

Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup Station. Only takes about 15 minutes to get here from the city centre. See you next time beautiful.
